IPL Thread Vein Removal

Thread veins are one of the most common vascular skin concerns, affecting both men and women of all ages. Whilst they are entirely harmless, they can be a source of significant self-consciousness — particularly when they appear prominently across the nose, cheeks, or chin, or in visible clusters on the legs. They develop when small blood vessels near the skin's surface become permanently dilated, often as a result of sun damage, hormonal changes, genetics, or lifestyle factors such as prolonged standing or alcohol consumption.

IPL thread vein removal works by targeting the haemoglobin — the pigment within red blood cells — with a specific wavelength of intense pulsed light. The light energy is absorbed by the blood vessel, causing it to heat rapidly, coagulate, and collapse. The vessel is then gradually broken down and reabsorbed by the body's natural processes over the weeks following treatment, leading to a progressive reduction in its visibility. Because the light is selectively absorbed by the blood vessel, the surrounding skin tissue remains largely unaffected.

A patch test and consultation are required prior to your first treatment to confirm suitability and ensure the correct settings are used for your skin tone and the vessels being treated. Most clients require between 2 and 4 sessions for optimal results, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Results are long-lasting, though new thread veins may develop over time as a result of ongoing lifestyle and genetic factors.
