LED light therapy Treatments
LED — Light Emitting Diode — therapy harnesses specific wavelengths of light to interact with the skin at a cellular level, triggering a range of beneficial biological responses without any heat, UV exposure, or physical contact with the skin. Unlike many other light-based treatments, LED therapy does not damage the skin in any way — it works with the skin’s own processes, stimulating and supporting them rather than creating a controlled injury to provoke a healing response. This makes it one of the safest and most universally appropriate treatments available, with no contraindications related to skin tone, skin type, or season.
Different wavelengths of light penetrate the skin to different depths and produce different therapeutic effects. Red light — typically in the 630 to 660nm range — penetrates into the dermis and is the most widely used wavelength for anti-ageing purposes, stimulating fibroblast activity and the production of collagen and elastin to firm, plump, and improve the texture of ageing or sun-damaged skin. Near-infrared light penetrates even deeper and has powerful anti-inflammatory and tissue-repair properties, making it particularly valuable for accelerating recovery after more intensive treatments such as microneedling, chemical peels, or laser. Blue light — in the 415 to 430nm range — targets the bacteria responsible for acne breakouts (Propionibacterium acnes), destroying them without affecting the surrounding skin, and is an effective and gentle treatment for active acne of all grades.
LED therapy works beautifully as a standalone treatment for clients looking to improve their skin health, manage acne, or maintain the results of other treatments — and it is equally effective as an add-on at the end of a facial or clinical treatment session. Because it accelerates cellular repair and reduces post-treatment inflammation, it is a particularly popular complement to microneedling, PRP, and chemical peels, reducing redness and shortening recovery time whilst enhancing the overall result. A course of sessions is recommended for progressive skin health improvements, with regular maintenance sessions to sustain the benefits.
